For as long as our planet has spun 'round the sun, there's been solar energy cascading down on the earth, and, for a long time -since the 7th century B.C., when glass was used to magnify it - humans have been working to harness it. These days, technology is a bit better, providing electricity, heating, lighting, and even flight, but the point is the same: use the sun's warm glowing warming glow for our benefit.

That the most advanced PV design to date is by a South African, Professor Vivian Alberts of University Johannesburg.

This technology is available first to the investing companies, and only in 2011 will it become available to the South African public.

Higher rebates don't necessarily mean that the company you are purchasing is offering the best equipment, or is 'more switched on' or is charging more. This is a keen issue to monitor, as the rebates are linked to energy savings and not to amounts spent. Some systems will indicate that they are 'saving more energy' but in the long run will actually cost more.
